After 7-year-old Somer Thompson disappeared on her way home from school, investigators followed nine garbage trucks from her neighborhood to a Georgia landfill nearly fifty miles away. They picked through the trash as each truck dumped its load. They sorted through more than 200,000 tons of garbage before their worst fears came true: Sticking out of the trash were a child's lifeless legs. (I believe this is every mother's worst nightmare.)

I only have one question: How long are we going to stand by and let sex offenders continue to kill our children?

Please pray for the healing of this family after their tragic loss.

This is so sad. I don't understand how people can do this. My thoughts go out to that family.

I had been following this story and my heart just breaks for Somer's family. I hope they find the person(s) responsible for this.

I get angry every time I hear a story like this. They have to enforce tougher laws against sex offenders - especially ones that prey on children. People who do white collar crimes serve more jail time than people who harm children. It is a tragedy.

What an awful tragedy. We are seeing this repeated too many times lately and need to find a way to get these offenders (who more often than not are repeat offenders) off of the streets and keep our children safe.

Isn't that horrendous? These stories of abductions have me terrified. Just sick to my stomach.

Tagging you on my blog, but no pressure to participate. Lighter than this, as I only can take so much of the sad news stories :(

I saw this horrific case on Nancy Grace last night and my heart goes out to the family of this beautiful little girl. I hope they catch this predator and lock him/her up forever!

I just found your blog via link referral and it's so amazing. My daughter is only 8, but I know that soon I'll need so much of the information you share here!!

This is not a shameless plug, but I truly just posted about sex offenders as well in my own huge rant. My husband is a State Trooper and the crimes we here being comitted OVER AND OVER again by sex offenders... it's just sickening. If they would lock them up and KEEP them up - so many lives would be saved. So much torture never endured.

Keep spreading the word!
